My Story
Throughout my life, I have consistently pursued the opportunity to forge meaningful connections and support individuals in my community, all while navigating the challenges of a disability.

I bring extensive experience as a Director of Sales in the hospitality industry, having worked in hotels across Washington State, New York, Nevada, and California. Ultimately, I returned to my home state of Idaho to establish a family.
When our son was born, I was eager to embrace the role of a stay-at-home mom. However, my journey took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with Autism and a speech delay. This pivotal moment drove me to seek answers and led to the development of a comprehensive resource guide aimed at helping parents in Idaho access vital services, providers, insurance, and next steps related to this diagnosis.

Recognizing the challenges many families faced, I volunteered as the Executive Director of the local Autism Society, motivated by my own experiences of difficulty in obtaining information. This role required me to completely overhaul the nonprofit, as I discovered that their records, financials, and overall organization were significantly lacking in the aftermath of COVID-19.

The organization was undergoing a rebranding process that the existing board was unaware of, prompting me to create an entirely new website, marketing materials, policies, and procedures. This was essential to rebuild community trust after a period of inactivity caused by the pandemic. I took the initiative to apologize for past oversights that were not my own, while ensuring the community that the future would look different. As a result, the Panhandle Autism Society was rebranded to the North Idaho Autism Society, with a commitment to driving its success.

Shortly after this rebranding, we hosted our first community event in two years. I dedicated significant effort to its planning, from sourcing supplies to organizing decorations, activities, and music. This event became a true testament to the idea that "if you build it, they will come," as we attracted nearly 500 attendees to our Halloween celebration. In that moment, I recognized that we were on the path to achieving remarkable outcomes.

As the new year approached, I was approached by the National Affiliate regarding the possibility of expanding our organization to encompass all families across Idaho, following the dissolution of the Treasure Valley affiliate. After discussions with the board, we undertook another rebranding initiative, becoming the Autism Society of Idaho. This expansion allowed us to reach families statewide, enhancing our marketing efforts, community events, public relations, and redefining our approach to advocacy.

Since this pivotal expansion, I have actively participated in numerous projects and assisted various nonprofits in establishing their footing and devising successful strategic plans.
